This weekend is the Lambeth Country Show at Brockwell Park, Herne Hill. The theme for the Education tent is Literacy.

Invitations to participate in the NGfL project phase 2 were sent to schools last week.

The Project Implementation Group met yesterday. The minutes will be published shortly.

The Primary ICT Co-ordinators' Conference took place yesterday and was attended by over 40 teachers. Colleagues were shown materials to support the QCA scheme of work, the Lambeth Extralink website, a preview of training offered by London Learning, and a preview of ICT in the proposed new National Curriculum.

Centre News: The Primary ICT Co-ordinators' Conference takes place on 7th July. This will be the first conference at our new Professional Development Centre.

Microsoft's UK Web Developers will be visiting two Lambeth schools tomorrow.

Centre News: The site has undergone a facelift since upgrading to Frontpage 2000 recently. We hope you all enjoy the changes.

We learnt today that we have been awarded the Educational site of the Month award by MirandaNet. On behalf of all our users, we are very pleased to accept.

Espresso for Schools was installed here in the Centre yesterday. Colleagues attending the Primary ICT Co-ordinators' conference on July 7th will be able to give it a try.

School News: The I.T Co-ordinator of Kingswood School set up a series of visits and training for staff over the Spring term at St Martins-in-the-field school.  Whole staff meetings have been dedicated to staff training and development of Internet knowledge at the school. All Junior children have extra opportunities to access and use the Internet.

  The Project Implementation Group (P.I.G) met this morning. Minutes of the meeting will be posted as soon as available.

As part of our ongoing OFSTED inspection, an HMI looking at ICT, will be visiting the Centre and several schools on Tuesday, May 27.

School News: Children in the Reception Class at Hillmead Primary School have won the local Tesco's Design a Computer Competition. Their winning entry will shortly be posted on the Tesco website.

Centre News: We are in the process of organizing a number of workshops for teachers to help them post material to the Tesco SchoolNet 2000 project. More details to follow shortly.

Centre News: Lambeth Education are shortly to embark on an exciting Internet project with Extralink. A group of Lambeth schools will be meeting at the Oval Cricket Ground on May 7th to launch the project which will involve childrens' work around the Cricket World Cup. Further details will be published shortly.
