We were working on silkworms this morning. We are hoping to get silk from their cocoons. We gave our silkworms green mulberry leaves. We have to use older yukky crunchy leaves not brand new leaves because they are not good for them. We've got three silkworms spinning. The other 21 are still eating to their hearts content.

Did you know that water kills the silkworms? If you put the cocoons in warm water, you can unwind the silk without killing the moth in the chrysallis. After they have turned to moths, and laid their eggs, the eggs will hatch in June or July.

Here is a silkworm tongue twister.

Six slinky silkworms silently spinning soft silvery silk.

At the moment in north Queensland, there is a huge cyclone, 10 000km wide, called Jason, category 2, off the coast. Some of our families and friends are being effected, and we are getting rain and storms from it even though it is not near.
