School News: St. Jude's School is participating in the Future Towns project. They have been trying to make contact with schools in the Devon area. They have also been using the various graph packages and spreadsheets.
Centre News: The project was mentioned in the Daily Express on Saturday in an article titled 'Business Plugs in'. The article used the Brixton Connections Project as an example of how business can work with education. The featured school was Loughborough Infants school and their web page was given a mention. The underlying theme of the piece was the new initiative - the Com.unity Project - that will be launched next week by Small Firms Minister, Barbara Roche. Unfortunately, the reporter wrote that we are based in Southwark, rather that Lambeth.
Centre News: Sky TV are featuring the Brixton Connections Project in the Learning Curve shown on their computer channel, [.tv]. The programme will be shown on Monday, November 30th at 7pm and features this web site, an interview with Phil Redman and will show children from Stockwell Infants school emailing children in Mexico.
Centre News: Our bid for funding for the NGfL project 1999/00 and ICT development plan were approved by the P.I.G on the 12th November. Copies of the plan can be seen on our NGfL Documents page. Minutes for the P.I.G meeting will be posted on that page shortly.
On Wednesday, we had our Primary ICT Co-ordinator's Conference. The main speaker was Dave Hassell of BECTa who talked about supporting literacy with ITC. Also, Sandra Crapper of Belle Associates gave a briefing on the New Opportunities fund training initiative for teachers.
Lambeth Education, in partnership with the University of North London and the IT Learning Exchange submitted a bid for approved trainer status as the London Consortium for the above inititiative to the TTA this morning.
Schools News: Sudbourne School's Year 3 and 4's have recently had their first experience of the internet via these pages. They have enjoyed getting lost and are now using the ideas from Kinder Art for some of their Art lessons.
Centre News: The Project Implementation Group (P.I.G) will meet on 12th November and on the same day, the first school receives their equipment.
Most schools have been cabled ready for installation.
Schools News: St. Jude's are going to use the Internet system at St Martins in the Field next this week.
Schools News: Effra Primary have been using the internet to train new and old staff. Also they have been using NETPAL to link up with other schools.
Schools News: From St. Jude's: The children in Class 2 have sent William Tiger (their travel buddy) and have also been busy looking up things they are interested in on the Internet. So far they have looked at the Blue Peter site, Brazil, Boyzone, and found a map of Lisbon for Ana who is from Portugal. They are all very excited. They have also found time to send a postcard to a kindergarten school in the USA, as part of their first 100 days in school celebrations.
From Loughborough Infants: Jan has registered her new class for the Monster project.
Project News: First orders have just been sent through to RM and cabling surveys are about to start. Most ISDN lines have now been installed by BT.
Schools News: Sudbourne School reported that EdWeb came in this morning to help with their web site: 'They were brilliant and we're all really pleased with it so far'. Dawn is presently trying to set up a communication project with Thurlow Park School.

Schools News: Class 2 of St. Jude's school are busy preparing to send William Tiger to California as part of a travel-buddies project. They are busy writing profiles, taking photos of the school with the digital camera and making passports.
Project News: After much activity during the summer holidays, the contract is finally due to be signed in the next couple of days.Congratulations to RM plc. who have won the contract for all three sections.
